During this past summer, current Phi Phi junior Griffin Rubin ’16 was selected as one of 192 Sigma Chi brothers across the country to attend the Huntsman Horizons Leadership Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah. While at Horizons, Griffin was given the opportunity to visit the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he toured his way to the top floor of the institute – the Sigma Chi International Fraternity Sixth Floor. The wall bears our fraternity’s crest and a list of all of the chapters across the country that have donated $20,000 in a single fundraising year to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the “The $20K Club.”  This year, we are committed to adding our chapter’s name to that wall – The Phi Phi Chapter of the University of Pennsylvania.

Starting this academic year, our goal is to begin an annual tradition of having the Phi Phi name on that wall. We have just completed our annual Charity Volleyball Tournament this month and Derby Days planning is already underway for the spring. We have been very close in approaching this goal, as seen from our $13,000 donation last year, but we need your help to get us past this ambitious mark.

Brother Vince Kolber of the class of 1974 has generously and ambitiously chosen to challenge you all to contribute. He has pledged to match all contributions of up to $5,000 made until the end of September by his class of 1974 as well as the classes of 1973 and 1975 which bracketed his days at Phi Phi. With your support we can reach our goal! We are honored to have Jon Huntsman as part of our Phi Phi heritage and wish that you are willing to support the important work that Brother Huntsman, the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and Phi Phi Chapter are so devoted.

Here is the announcement of the opening of the Sigma Chi International Fraternity Sixth Floor at the HCI.
